Vince Gilligan Shares He Has a Plan for How Pluribus Will End... Currently.

Vince Gilligan could not have predicted that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a massive hit. “I am so grateful to the audience,” Gilligan says. “I was surprised by the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

As the debut season of the hit sci-fi show reaching its finale—and the next chapter officially in the works—the creative team recently discussed the viewer reception and whether it will impact the storyline of Pluribus.

Regarding the Incredible Audience Reaction

One could easily to get distracted by the constant speculation and audience predictions surrounding Pluribus. The creator is striving to steer clear of all that.

“It's like being an endless supply of your favorite dessert and being tickled to death,” he says. “It's the greatest thing, but I get wind of it from others, and that's intentional. I have never searched for my own name online, nor do I ever plan to. It's quite the opposite. It's a rabbit hole I know I would get lost in and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

Despite trying to stay away, there’s no way to avoid the immensely favorable response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to accept it graciously and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“We make no attempt to adjust our writing,” says Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not impacted by online forums.”

“We prefer to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan concludes.

The Central Mystery: Will the creator See the Conclusion of Pluribus?

So if Gilligan and his team are not listening by audience theories, does it imply they have mapped out how Pluribus will reach its endpoint? Essentially yes… sort of.

“There are some compelling concepts about where the show might end up,” he states. “however, we remain prepared to discard a decent plan for a superior concept. This approach has served us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, director and writer Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to serve as a last resort.

“My recurring proposal is that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and the characters are inside it,” Smith jokes, “but no one is buying it.”

Then again, why not reference the legendary finales?

“I'd love for Carol to open her eyes beside Bob Newhart,” Gilligan says with a smile.

Pluribus is currently available on Apple TV.
