Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
