Head Made Contact to Duckett After Social Media Clip Criticism

Cricket players Travis Head and Ben Duckett in play

The two batters were on opposing sides in the past two Ashes contests.

Aussie opener Travis Head disclosed that he sent a message to English counterpart Ben Duckett after a video circulated appearing to show the player in a inebriated state prior to the MCG Test.

Reports indicated that players were drinking excessively during a respite in the beach town of Noosa in the gap between the second and third Tests.

One unconfirmed video resulted in increased attention on the squad and on Duckett specifically.

"I have a good relationship with Ducky and contacted him to see if he was doing okay," said Head.

"Everyone is still people. Your actions in your private life is your concern.

"I know we live a high profile life and certain individuals are more high profile than others.

"At the end of the day, it is a bit stiff but I don't believe there is any genuine problem."

Background of the Situation

The team's four nights in Noosa followed they had fallen 2-0 down in the Ashes series following defeats in the first two Tests.

Multiple news organizations reported that some players were consuming alcohol for a significant portion of their time on the coastal break, as well as on two previous days in Brisbane.

Though they gave an better showing in the next Test, they lost in Adelaide to surrender the series to Australia.

The Australian's Take

Speaking after the visiting team's win in the Melbourne Test, Head said: "I felt envious.

"Everyone has blown it out of proportion than it warranted.

"Our teams have done the very same on earlier trips. I don't see an issue with it."
