Followers Call for Custody of Man Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are demanding that a person who breached a barricade and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral video reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous fans accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, securing a pair for best costume and production design.
