Ukraine's President Warns Nation's Survival Depends on Allies
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a latest discussion that Ukraine's existence depended on obtaining additional financial aid from international partners.
“I hope, with luck, they will approve the necessary funding,” he stated to reporters. Otherwise, “It will be necessary to seek an alternative, it’s a question of our surviving. For this reason it is essential urgently. And I count on our allies.”
European Authorities Advocates €140 Billion Compensation Funding
The EU executive continues to aim to persuade participating countries – including Belgium, that is currently blocking the proposal amid legal fears – to proceed with a €140bn financial compensation using Moscow's immobilized funds.
EU chief Ursula von der Leyen insisted this morning that this represents “the optimal method to support Ukraine’s defence and national finances.”
Decision Postponed Till Year-End Meeting
A definitive resolution on the matter has been postponed till the European Council meeting in the last month, as the financial support required at the start of the coming year.
Discussions Coincide with Bribery Allegations in Ukraine
But the talks come at a difficult moment for Ukraine, as the president had to move to address rising popular anger in Ukraine regarding a bribery incident in the energy sector, dismissing two ministers who are accused of involvement in a large-scale corruption network.
Denmark's economic affairs minister Stephanie Lose was questioned on her response to the allegations, and affirmed that there was commitment to continue supporting Ukraine.
“Of course, Ukraine will have to continuously work with improvements, strengthening all parts of their society [and] that also applies to fighting graft … but there shouldn’t be any doubt that there’s a strong European support behind Ukraine,” she stated.
Other EU Developments Monitored

Lots for us to cover.
