American performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, per media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Television Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
